short story v2

His jersey was not in the washer. It wasn't in his closet. He had rummaged through his dirty clothes hamper, coming up empty handed. The dresser was his next place to look. Once again he found nothing. Oliver looked under his bed and when he didn't find it there he wonder if a monster under the bed took it. But then he knew. The dryer. It was in the dryer.
Oliver hated the dryer. It always stole his socks and now it had taken his soccer jersey. He would venture inside and fetch his jersey. His game started soon, and they were supposed to arrive early to warm up.
The laundry room was Oliver's least favorite room in the whole house. The washer and dryer stood side by side like conjoined twins. In this case the dryer was the evil one. To the left of the appliances lay piles and piles of clothing his mother had yet to fold. He had already gone under and searched through for this jersey. It wasn't there, that was for sure.
Opening the mouth of the cold white giant, Oliver thought of asking his mom to go inside for him. He knew she wouldn't be happy he had lost his jersey. It was her fault though, she's the one who washed his clothes, he was only eight years old for Pete's sake! Oliver climbed inside and shut the door. Not knowing what to expect he squeezed his eyes shut.
The hellish landscape was dry and cracked; spotted with a few angry and gnarled trees. Socks and other unmentionables laid languid, creating an image somewhat similar to Salvador Dali's Persistence of Memory. In the ominous distance stood a castle which obviously housed some malicious character. Yet, the air smelled overwhelmingly fresh. Oliver looked around and wondered what he had gotten himself into.
He noticed a small white serpentine form crawling like an inch worm toward him. He wondered if he should step on it. Paralyzed by the strangeness of his situation, Oliver watched as the figure got closer. The creature raised what appeared to be it's head and looked at him. At least he thought it was looking at him, it had no eyes. He didn't know whether to laugh or scream when he realized it was a sock.
“Oliver?” the sock asked.
“Um...yes?” Oliver's meek voice responded.
“What on Earth are you doing here?” the sock questioned.
“I'm...looking for my soccer jersey? Did I fall asleep?” Oliver said with a puzzled look on his face.
“No, you're inside the dryer. You better head back, he has your soccer jersey not. The dryer can be a dangerous place ”
“Who does? I need it back! I have a game today.”
“Fluffy the Fabric Softener Sheet Monster ”
“He doesn't sound very scary.”
“Tell that to all the socks he torments day in and day out.”
“Didn't his mother tell him not to take things that don't belong to him?”
“That's not exactly the point...”
“Well does he live in that big castle over there? I'm going to go tell him to give it back”
“Yes, but I don't think it's very wise to go over there..”
“Okay, thank you” And with that Oliver left the lonely sock to his cumbrous thoughts.
Oliver traversed the dying terrain, feeling pity for all the socks dirty and writhing with holes where their heels should be. As he approached the dwelling of Fluffy the Fabric Softener Sheet Monster, Oliver reminded himself to say please and thank you.
Oliver arrived at the door of the enormous residence. His eyes scanned for a doorbell but there was none in sight. He lifted his hand and knocked three times.
No one came to the door. There was no sound from within.
He knocked again, the same reaction taking place. Oliver reached for the doorknob and let himself in. The door squeaked and Oliver heard the echoes of his feet shuffling along the floor.
“Hello?” He called.
There was no reply. Oliver walked down the hallway straight ahead of him, not knowing where it would take him. He heard a soft rumble which he recognized. A dryer.
Oliver turned and walked toward the sound. He traveled down a flight of stairs to what he considered the basement. The dryer let out an obnoxious beep, telling whomever started the load that it was finished. He heard the mellow yet heavy sound of what could only be a fabric softener monster drawing near. Oliver spied a small closet, just small enough to hide an eight year old boy, and leaped inside.
With an overly perfumed entrance, Fluffy arrived in the laundry room. Oliver stared at the tower of fabric softener. The monster leaned over and took his clothes out of the dryer. In his bundle Oliver spied the uproarious green which could only be his jersey.
“Hey that's mine!” Oliver cried as he jumped from his hiding place.
“Who are you?” The blob of fabric softener sheets said.
“I'm Oliver and you stole my soccer jersey so give it back!” Oliver pointed to the luminous green.
“Finders keepers.” Fluffy declared.
“It's mine. I need it!” Oliver jumped at Fluffy reaching for the jersey.
“Too bad.”
An epic battle of tug-of-war began between boy and fabric softener sheet monster. Being that Fluffy was made of feather light material, he didn't stand a chance against the 60 pounds that was Oliver. Oliver used all his might and successfully grabbed the jersey from Fluffy's grip. Fluffy flew backward into the dryer. Oliver, thinking quick, ran to the dryer and slammed the door. He turned the dryer to a hour long timed dry on high heat. That would give him plenty of time to escape.
He ran through the house crushing the jersey against his chest. Bursting through the door, Oliver's eyes frantically searched for a way home. He could see a dryer identical to the one at his house so he ran toward it. He climbed inside and shut the door. Once again he shut his eyes tightly.
He pressed on the door and tumbled to the floor, jersey in hand.
“Oliver are you ready to go?” He heard his mom call.
“Just a second.” Oliver called back.
In his uniform, he ran up the stairs and nearly plowed his mother down.
“Whoa, Oliver! We're not in that big of a rush. Go wait in the car I'll be right out.” His mother tousled his hair.
Oliver did just that. While sitting in the car he considered how to tell his mom to use liquid fabric softener instead.
title anyone??

55 word story

Slowly rising from beside the bush, I slink to the oak tree. I can't be too loud. Fear floods my veins. I have been spotted. Dashing toward the safety of home, I stumble over a twig. It races in my direction. I am doomed! A tap and pair of words change my destiny.
"You're it!"

my dream from spring break

this is black stone cherry

so before we get into my dream there's some stuff you might wanna know. Me and my sister have seen these guys 3 times. The first time was in illinois, we didn't know who they were so it doesn't really count but still. The second time was at the rock in maple wood. At this show john fred ( the guy with the big curly hair) noticed my dog tag and he was talking to me about it after the show. he said he had a dog but he didn't have a tag for his dog yet. So, my sister and i saw them agian 2 days later at the venue (that was seriously the name of the place) in fargo. We made a dog to give to john fred and since we didn't know his dogs name we just had JOHN FRED'S DOG put on it. We gave him the tag after their set ( it was a saving abel show) and he absolutely loved it he was showing everyone and he put it with all his keys and stuff.

so in my dream my sister and i were at another BSC show. it was after the show and i really really wanted john fred to sign my shoe for some reason. actually i have always wanted someone famous to sign my shoes. So, john fred was attempting to sign my shoe while it was still on my foot and it wasn't working out to well so i put my foot up on the merch table. So he signed it but it wasn't like he usually signs stuff. it was in all caps like JOHN FRED y YOUNG. see he forgot to put a capital y at the start of his last name so thats why there's a random lower case y. so next thing i know me and john fred and my sister are sitting at a table. from left to right the order was my sister, me then john fred. so we were all talking and then chris ( the guy farthest right) came over and sat across from my sister. Then ben ( second from the right) joined us and he sat across from me. Then jon ( the first guy on the left) sat across from john fred. my sister really wants to be friends with a band and in my dream she actually says to me "hannah, i think were friends with a band now" and they all laughed at us. for some reason i had my coheed and cambria bag with me and john fred started going through it. and for some reason i had pictures of every band i like in my wallet so he was going through there looking at all the bands i liked. and i pulled a picture of BSC out which they had all signed and i showed john fred and was like " hey thats you". and thats when i woke up.

3:30 @ 2648 Lyndale Ave

There it sits.
ROBOTlove,
a small building on Lyndale Avenue
tucked away from the road
like it's playing hide and seek.
In those doors waits the one and only
Claudio Sanchez.

A white crunchy frosting covers the ground.
Watching my brother and I move toward the door
you might have thought you were witnessing a marathon.

Just inside these doors...

Jumping Jehoshaphat there he is!
Dark, curly hair springs from his head
stretching wider than his shoulders.
He looks something like a poodle.

Boxes covered in talking cities
contain smirking Kill Audio figures
The key to meeting their creator.
This is unbelievable.
No other fans, just us
ROBOTlove employees
and Claudio.

I gotta say something unique
or at least something smart.

He shook Jake's hand!
I thought he didn't do stuff like that.
Good thing Jake's less nervous as me.
(Actually, his knees were shaking)

Oh no, I was gonna say that
and that.
That too...

WhatdoIsay?
WhatdoIsay?

Placing my box on the table
I watch as Claudio's Sharpie glides over the top
Hey, that's the Keywork
and his signature.
He's drawing a face (melting and sad) like he did on Jake's!

Say something!

Claudio looks up.
his brown eyes inviting me to speak.
Scrambling, five words make their way out of my mouth;
“Can we have a picture?”

Damn, I sure am good with rockstars.

3rd try!

I didn't see it in your eyes.
Neither did he
but she did.

Please don't be mad.
It would have happened eventually
she just couldn't wait until the weekend was over.

I think about you everyday.
A blue bone, a reminder
once hung from your neck,
now dangles from mine
jingling loud and crisp in my ear

The luckiest day of the century
(07-07-07)
led to tears
and shaking shoulders

I remember that day so clearly
Meeting with friends for a surprise birthday party.
Leaving, knowing I'd have to go back
and pretend I was okay.

You sat in her lap
instead of on the cold table.

Four letter words
spoken with your eyes.
HOPE
maybe we'd make you better.
HELP
you were in pain.
FEAR
you pulled away from the syringe
knowing it was death.

Your body slackened,
resting in a towel
used for absorbing life.

I'd never seen him cry before.

You laid there, still warm
eyes empty and staring.
Fingers too large,
gently caressed your eyelids downward
but they refused to shut.

still working on it. but what do you think so far??

a time my world changed v.2

I didn't see it in your eyes.
Neither did he
but, she did.

Please don't be mad.
It would have happened eventually
she just couldn't wait till the weekend was over.

I remember that day so clearly.
the day, you turned into
a pile of bones and fur,

I think about you everyday.
A reminder dangling from my neck
a jingling so loud and crisp.

The luckiest day of the century
led to tears
and shaking shoulders.

I saw something in your eyes that day
A four letter word.
HELP

You fought.
Drawing away from the syringe,
like you knew.

You laid there, still warm
eyes empty, staring
refusing to close.

a time my world changed

Please, don't be mad
it would have happened anyway
she just couldn't wait until the weekend was over

I remember that day so clearly
that day the thing I lived for turned into a hollow shell
you

I think about you everyday
a reminder dangling from my neck
a jingling so loud and crisp

the luckiest day of the century
led to tears

as though you knew

revisions to play

does this raise the stakes???
do you care if they're friends or not now?
PENELOPE is over at JUNE'S house. PENELOPE is sitting on the love seat facing the television, JUNE is on the couch parallel to the television. A coffee table fills up the space.
JUNE and PENELOPE are watching a children's movie.
[June's phone vibrates on the table. ]

PENELOPE
Who's that?

JUNE
[JUNE flips phone open. She rolls her eyes]
Annette...

PENELOPE
[Laughs] What does she want?

JUNE
[Exasperated sigh] Well on Facebook i put my status as bored. Before you said you could come over. She wants to hang out.

PENELOPE
Sucks for her.

JUNE
Should I tell her you're over?

PENELOPE
I don't care
[JUNE texts. The phone snaps shut rather loudly. Both girls continue watching the movie. JUNE'S phone goes off again]

PENELOPE
What'd she say?

JUNE
She's asking if she can come over.

PENELOPE
Pfft no! I don't understand how she doesn't get it that I don't want to be friends with her anymore.

JUNE'S MOM
[off stage]
I told you she knew you were together

JUNE
[half laughing] Mom!

JUNE'S MOM
What? I told you she would find out.
[JUNE'S house phone rings]

JUNE
Oh, God! It's her.

PENELOPE
No!

JUNE
Yeah.

PENELOPE
Don't answer it!

JUNE
But she'll know.

PENELOPE
So?

JUNE
Ugh. [to phone] Hello?

ANNETTE
[In her living room. The room is lavishly decorated, showing her family's love of luxury ANNETTE sits on a large couch in front of a large television]
Hey! What are you up to?

JUNE
Penelope is over.

ANNETTE
Oh. Can I come over?

JUNE
[Covers bottom of phone with hand] She wants to know if she can come over.

PENELOPE
No.

JUNE
[To phone] Uh...I don't think that's a good idea.

ANNETTE
Umm...why not?

JUNE
[looks to PENELOPE] Er...ah...Penelope doesn't want you to.

PENELOPE
Oh whatever you don't want her over just as much as me.

ANNETTE
Can I talk to her?

JUNE
Sure.[tries to give the phone to PENELOPE]

PENELOPE
No way! I am NOT talking to her. [ Backs away from phone, eyes wide]

JUNE
Oh come on just make up with her, your friendship won't be the same. That's how it was for me.
She hardly ever asks to do stuff now.

JUNE'S MOM
Yeah,June she only ever asks you to hang out if she's got something to show you.
[ANNETTE is trying to get someone's attention. Shouts Hello? Anyone there? Etc]

JUNE
[to phone] Uh..just a sec. She wont take the phone. [thrusts phone more forcefully at
PENELOPE]

PENELOPE
No.

JUNE
Just make up with her. It's not gonna be the same.

PENELOPE
NO! I'm done. I am so done with that girl and all her crap.

JUNE'S MOM
She is a weird one.

ANNETTE
Just let me talk to her. I promise I wont get mad or yell or anything. If she doesn't want to talk to me ever again all she has to do is say it. If she just says she doesn't want to talk to me and to leave her alone I'll leave her alone I swear.

JUNE
[covers phone again] She says you just have to tell her you don' want to talk to her and she'll leave you alone.

PENELOPE
If not talking to her for over a month doesn't make her see I don't want to talk to her nothing will.

JUNE
[to phone] She wont talk to you.

ANNETTE
Ya know I should just come over there. That way she can't hide from me. I mean, what's she so afraid of I promise I won't get mad.

JUNE
Uhh...[to PENELOPE] she's threatening to come over here.

PENELOPE
Seriously?

JUNE
YES!

JUNE'S MOM
She can't come over.

JUNE
Well duh, I don't want her to.
[ANNETTE trying to get attention again]

PENELOPE
So...

ANNETTE
[Pacing around room. She's fuming] Ya know what? I'm coming over there, I don't care. That way she can't hide from me.

JUNE
[to phone] No, don't I'll give her the phone.

PENELOPE
[Waving arms in front of body] Nuh uh.

JUNE
[once again covering phone] Just take the phone.

PENELOPE
You give me that phone and I'll just hang it up.

JUNE
You better not.

PENELOPE
[sighs] Fine. [Takes phone holding it arms length away in front of her body. Looks at it, fingers grazing the OFF button. .Looks up at JUNE ,who raises her eyebrows]

ANNETTE
HELLO?

JUNE
[talking loud and leaning toward the phone] She's holding the phone if you take she'll hear you
[ANNETTE laughs obnoxiously loud at something on her tv. She's making comments about it to her dad]

ANNETTE
June?

JUNE
Hang on, [grabs phone from PENELOPE] Yeah?

ANNETTE
Just tell her I just need to hear her say it and I'll leave her alone.
[JUNE presses the speaker phone button]
Seriously i just need to hear her say it and I'll never talk to her again. I wont get mad or yell or anything.

PENELOPE
[with complete control] Okay, I don't want to talk to you anymore. Leave me alone

ANNETTE
Why? [the tension in her voice is very evident]

PENELOPE
Because I'm done with you. [still in complete control]

ANNETTE
Why?

PENELOPE
Because.

ANNETTE
[heavy breathing] What the HELL did I ever do to you?

PENELOPE
Plenty of stuff.

ANNETTE
[yelling] Like what?

PENELOPE
Well for starters you said you wouldn't get mad or yell but here we are.

ANNETTE
I don't understand what the hell I ever did to you. You're the one that-

ANNETTE'S DAD
Will you calm down? Watch your temper.

PENELOPE
[Listing on her fingers]
I believe you told me you felt bad for me 'cause its like I don't have a mom, even though she just lives in Texas. Umm... you assume I was jealous of you on multiple occasions. I never got to say more than two words on the way home from school. You were always talking about yourself .You always made my birthday parties about you. You-

ANNETTE
What the hell are you talking about?

PENELOPE
You threw Sammy's shoes in my front yard because you don't like her and you had to make a big scene when she showed up...

ANNETTE
UGGHH! [to phone] Ya know what? To hell with both of you! [hangs up phone and slams it down]

JUNE
[looks at PENELOPE in disbelief] I didn't even do anything.

PENELOPE
That's Annette.

JUNE
So much for not yelling

PENELOPE
And not getting mad

JUNE'S MOM
She's a weird one
[JUNE'S phone vibrates. She picks it up and her eyes scan the small screen]

JUNE
Its Annette...

PENELOPE
What'd she say?

JUNE
She said " I'm sorry I told you to go to hell, I say things I don't mean when I get mad"

PENELOPE
Like i haven't heard that one before

JUNE
What should I say back?

PENELOPE
I don't care

JUNE
'Kay...[buttons click as she texts]. I swear she's not depressed she's bipolar

PENELOPE
That's for sure. I don't think she'll ever get it through her head that I don't want to be friends anymore

JUNE
[JUNE'S phone goes off again. She opens it and reads the message] She wants to know if there's anything she can do to have you forgive her.

PENELOPE
Uh..no.

JUNE
I'll just tell her you wont tell me

JUNE'S MOM
June's pretty good at staying neutral in things like this.

PENELOPE
Yeah. It's not fair of Annette to make you be in the middle of this. This is between me and her.

JUNE
Yeah

PENELOPE
The way I see it you at least got a break when you guys got in a fight freshman year. I had to deal with her the whole time.

JUNE
True but I had to deal with her in elementary school.

PENELOPE
But I was friends with her in kindergarten. We go back a few years longer.

JUNE
But like I said you got a break.

PENELOPE
That's true. You can just handle more craziness than me I guess.
[JUNE'S phone goes off again.]

JUNE
She says she's sorry and she'll leave us alone now

PENELOPE
Yeah....right
